Voted Best Real Estate Agency in Charleston

Voted Best Real Estate Agency in Charleston

  • August 9, 2026

Some awards are based on sales volume.

Some are based on the number of transactions you close.

Some are based on applications, nominations, or industry panels.

This one feels different.

McConnell Real Estate Partners was recently voted Best Real Estate Agency in the 2026 Moultrie News Best of the Best Readers' Choice Awards.

That means the people of the Charleston area chose us.

For a small, boutique real estate company built right here on Isle of Palms, that's something we're incredibly proud of.

But more than anything, we're grateful.

We're grateful to the clients who have trusted us with some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. We're grateful to the people who have referred their friends and family to us. We're grateful to our neighbors on Isle of Palms and throughout Charleston who continue to support our business.

And we're grateful that the approach to real estate we've believed in from the beginning continues to resonate with people.

We Never Wanted to Be the Biggest Real Estate Company

When we built McConnell Real Estate Partners, our goal wasn't to create the largest brokerage in Charleston.

It was to build the kind of real estate company we would want to hire ourselves.

That distinction matters.

Real estate has become increasingly focused on scale. Bigger teams. More agents. More leads. More transactions.

We've intentionally taken a different approach.

We believe buying or selling a home, particularly a luxury home or significant investment property, deserves personal attention from experienced professionals.

Our clients work directly with us.

They get our phone numbers.

They get our advice.

And when difficult decisions need to be made, we're the ones helping them make those decisions.

That boutique model isn't always the easiest way to grow a business, but it's the way we believe real estate should be done.

Being voted Best Real Estate Agency in Charleston reinforces our belief that personal service still matters.

Two Different Backgrounds. One Approach.

Part of what makes our partnership work is that we approach real estate from very different perspectives.

Jen brings nearly two decades of experience in luxury real estate, custom construction, design, staging, and marketing. She understands how buyers experience a home and how thoughtful preparation and presentation can dramatically change the way a property is perceived.

Josh approaches real estate through the lens of finance and investing. With a background in finance, an MBA, prior experience as a CPA, and more than 20 years of real estate investing experience, he tends to look beyond the surface of a property.

What does the investment look like?

What are the risks?

What's the exit strategy?

How does the property compare with other opportunities?

For investment and second-home buyers, that perspective can be especially valuable.

Those different skill sets complement each other.

One of us may be thinking about how a home should be positioned and marketed while the other is studying the numbers, comparable sales, or long-term investment potential.

Our clients benefit from both perspectives.

Local Knowledge Can't Be Recreated With a Search

We're also fortunate to sell real estate in the community we call home.

We live on Isle of Palms.

We're raising our family here.

We know what it's like to live through a busy July weekend and what the island feels like on a quiet January morning.

We know the difference between wanting to be close to the beach and wanting to be close to the water.

We understand why one buyer might fall in love with Palm Boulevard while another would never give up the sunsets and boating lifestyle near the Intracoastal Waterway.

We understand Wild Dunes, Front Beach, the marina, the different condo communities, and the nuances that can make two seemingly similar properties very different investments.

And because we're real estate investors ourselves, we understand many of the questions our clients are asking because we've had to answer those same questions with our own money.

There's simply no substitute for that firsthand experience.

Luxury Real Estate Is About More Than Price

We specialize in luxury real estate, but we've never believed luxury is defined by a price point.

To us, luxury is the level of service.

It's answering the phone.

It's knowing the market well enough to tell a seller something they may not want to hear.

It's telling a buyer when we think they should walk away.

It's understanding how to market an extraordinary property differently from an average home.

It's knowing when a property is truly special and when beautiful photography is masking a problem.

It's anticipating issues before they become expensive surprises.

And it's being personally involved from the first conversation through closing and beyond.

Some of the homes we represent are oceanfront estates. Others are investment properties, condominiums, boat slips, primary residences, or homes that have been in a family for generations.

The price changes.

Our responsibility to the client doesn't.

We Think Like Investors Because We Are Investors

Another important part of our business is working with real estate investors.

That's not a specialty we chose because it sounded good on a website.

It's part of our own lives.

We've spent more than two decades investing in real estate and have ownership interests in more than 100 properties across South Carolina.

That experience changes the conversations we have with clients.

When someone is evaluating an Isle of Palms vacation property, we're not simply looking at the kitchen and counting bedrooms.

We're thinking about rental potential, operating expenses, insurance, maintenance, financing, depreciation, potential tax strategies, appreciation, resale, and how the property fits into the buyer's broader goals.

We frequently work with clients considering 1031 exchanges, cost segregation, vacation rental investments, second homes, and properties intended to become future retirement residences.

We're Realtors, but in those conversations, our role often becomes much broader.

We're helping someone evaluate an investment.

That distinction is important to us.

Results Matter Too

Personal service and local expertise are important, but ultimately our clients hire us to produce results.

That responsibility is something we take seriously.

Whether we're preparing a luxury home for market, negotiating against multiple offers for a buyer, evaluating an investment property, or positioning a unique Isle of Palms property for sale, there is a strategy behind what we do.

Sometimes that means recommending improvements before a property ever reaches the market.

Sometimes it means advising a seller not to make improvements because we don't believe they'll produce an adequate return.

Sometimes it means creating a marketing strategy designed specifically for one property rather than following the same checklist used for every listing.

And sometimes it means telling a buyer that the best decision is not to buy the house they're standing in.

Our job isn't to get to the next transaction.

It's to help our clients make good real estate decisions.

We believe that approach creates better results and, more importantly, relationships that last far beyond closing.

Charleston Is Home

Although much of our business is centered on Isle of Palms and the surrounding coastal communities, our connection to Charleston extends much further.

We work throughout Isle of Palms, Sullivan's Island, Mount Pleasant, Daniel Island, downtown Charleston, and other communities across the Lowcountry.

Charleston is an extraordinary real estate market because there isn't one definition of the Charleston lifestyle.

For one family, it's an oceanfront home on Isle of Palms.

For another, it's walking to dinner from a historic home downtown.

It might be boating from a waterfront property, raising a family in Mount Pleasant, living within a golf community, or purchasing a vacation property that becomes the gathering place for generations.

Helping people find their version of Charleston is one of the things we love most about what we do.

An Award That Belongs to Our Clients Too

Being named Best Real Estate Agency is exciting.

But when we look at the award, we don't see it as something that belongs only to us.

We think about the seller who trusted us with a home that had been part of their family for decades.

We think about the investor who called us before making their next purchase.

We think about the family moving to Charleston who knew almost nothing about the area when we first spoke.

We think about past clients who continue sending their friends, coworkers, children, parents, and neighbors to us.

And we think about the people who took a few minutes out of their day to vote for McConnell Real Estate Partners.

A readers' choice award exists because people make the effort to support businesses they believe deserve recognition.

We don't take that lightly.

What Comes Next

Winning an award isn't a finish line.

If anything, it raises the standard.

We want to continue improving the way we market homes.

We want to continue expanding the resources we provide buyers and investors.

We want to continue sharing the knowledge we've gained from living, selling, buying, and investing in Charleston real estate.

And we want McConnell Real Estate Partners to remain what it was designed to be from the beginning: a boutique real estate company where experience, strategy, relationships, and personal service come before volume.

We don't need to be the biggest.

We want to be the company people trust when the decision really matters.

Thank You, Charleston

This recognition belongs to all of you.

We appreciate your trust, and we're excited for what's ahead.
